In fact, trees are often the largest and most consistent contributors to urban pollinator diets. We often imagine pollinator gardens as bursting with colourful petals. But a bee doesn’t care about showiness; it is seeking nutrition and reliability.

A single bee may visit up to 5,000 flowers in one day. Over a lifetime, a bee might visit two-five million flowers to produce just one teaspoon of honey. To fuel this, it may travel several kilometres from its nest and back, again and again. So, when you plant even one tree, one flowering herb, or one patch of groundcover, you're helping to fuel a marathon.

Pollinator gardening isn’t about floral displays. It’s about abundance, continuity and access.
