Problem

Rising cost of fishing in ocean dependent communities in the Caribbean due to climate change

Solution

Unmanned autonomous solar-powered FAD providing climate data and support to fishing communities

About the company

Established in 2018, InVictus aims to address the rising cost of fishing in St. Lucia as a result of climate change, as well as the resulting changes in migration patterns in prime fishing locations, which have resulted in reduced fish stocks, ineffective fishing effort, rising input, and declining fishing yield, thereby giving rise to issues related to food security. They are prototyping a multi-sensor, environmentally-friendly, autonomous, unmanned surface vessel that would be able to transmit maritime information in real time to different governing bodies to assist and shape policies, and also assist local fishermen.
